Manzanita Burl w/ Turquoise #390

Here is a fabulous 9in "Ergo" mill crafted from Manzanita burl. Manzanita is a scrubtree that grows in the desert Southwest. This wood is very hard and always has many surprises when working with it. Gravel and sand pockets will sometimes be present in the wood because the Manzanita roots will grow around them! Manzanita burl is always full of cracks and voids. This is why it has been one of my favorite burls to work with....It is perfect for turquoise inlay. Between the "Manz" and the turquoise, it just doesn't get anymore Southwest! Without a doubt, this mill is my most ambitious peppermill to date. It is not inexpensive, but surely one-of-a-kind.

Pink Ivory #0031

This peppermill is handcrafted using highly figured Pink Ivory. At one time, this gorgeous African wood was said to be rarer than diamonds. The Zulu consider Pink Ivory to be sacred. Only a Zulu chief or one of his sons may harvest the tree or may give approval for the felling of a tree by leaving their ax mark. This would make a great gift for the pepperlover that has an appreciation for tribal Africa. The color fades from an apricot to a watermelon red in this 10 inch peppermill. Once again, Chef Specialties has the honors in the hardware department.
